Blaze Updates

Monday, October 27, 2008

Blaze had quite the adventure this past weekend! We took him to visit Grandpa & Grandma in Jeff City! Grandma Becky had knee surgery, so we surprised her with our visit. She's unable to drive or leave the house right now. Since Blaze had never even been in someone else's house before, this was an experience. Tim drove, Maggie sat next to him, Blaze and I were in the back. The other third of the backseat had our bags in it, because Blaze's stuff took up so much room in the trunk. Tim likes to feel prepared for anything. We ended up taking his portable crib with the built in changing station with us. Thankfully it folds down really well! I thought it was a bit excessive to bring it with us, but later realized it made a lot of sense! Blaze had his same bed and mobile…he was comfortable with "his stuff." Blaze met his cousins, Annika (20 months) and Audrey (19 months). Neither one paid too much attention to the baby…until their moms would hold him! That sure got their attention! Annika is going to have a baby brother in January, so this was a good experience for her. At one point we propped him up between them and took lots of pictures! It was fun to see the three of them together for the first time. With Grandma being unable to join us for several things, or even supervise the meal…things got chaotic at dinnertime. It was fun, though! The girls were movin' and groovin'…into everything! It was a terrific eye opener for me to know what we were looking forward to. We all enjoyed our time there and getting to see everyone.

Blaze enjoyed hanging out with Grandma on her bed. He got a nose to nose view of their dog, Buddy. He also got to see Maggie and Buddy play together. They play rough with each other most of the time, so he got to see another side of Maggie. He watches her a lot more now! HA! We celebrated Maggie's first year with us last Monday. She loved her new toys. Maggie and I were playing with one of them and I heard Melissa say, "Oh my gosh, look at him!" and Tim say, "Honey, look over here." I looked over and saw Blaze. He was sitting up on Dad's lap, bending over, staring at me and Maggie on the floor playing…with his mouth hanging open. The pacifier had to be rescued from falling out of his mouth. It was so funny. Melissa had decorated the house a little bit for the occasion. Blaze was fascinated with that, too.

TEETH! Blaze has at least 3 teeth coming in. You can't tell by looking, but your finger would sure notice! Poor little guy! He's doing fairly well with it, though he's not afraid to tell us when he's not feeling his best! I pray for peace a lot for Blaze. Peaceful sleeping and peace when he's awake. It hurts a momma to hear her baby crying. We can’t do much for the pain since he’s so little. Thankfully it hasn't been too bad.

Blaze has been watching Tim a lot lately. He watches him cook and wants to be able to see everything going on when Dad’s in the kitchen. I walked up the stairs the other day and saw Tim playing a video game…with Blaze sitting in his lap. Blaze was fascinated with the colors and sounds…and tried to get his hand on the controller. If you haven’t checked out the picture gallery, now's a good time to check out the updates!

Speaking of pictures…I entered Blaze into a baby photo contest. Voting begins the last week of October. I'll let you know how you can "vote" for Blaze when I know more info.

Last night Blaze and I had another laughing session. I'm loving his coos. Lately he's been putting vowels and syllables together…especially when he’s really mad and wants a bottle. It’s been fun to guess what he’s "saying."

Things are good! We don’t have another doctor’s appointment with Dr. Wherry until mid-November. We’re coasting along just fine! Thanks so much for your prayers. We still need and cherish them.
